A Chocolate Sort of Day

Yesterday was one of those days. It started when DD announced very early on that she wasn't going to church. We worked through that and off to church we went with her gift for Angel's Of Light. At church she had a melt down. She even told me that she wasn't going back to her bible study class because the kids were throwing food at her. So I called her bluff and said "Let's go over there and talk to them about this. I want you to show me the kids who did it." She replied, They will just deny it." I was so embarrassed by DD's behavior. Who knows what they think of me as a parent. After days like this I just don't want to go back. I ended up sitting in the car with her while Jimmy went to worship service. After a few minutes she calmed down and wanted to then hug and kiss on me. We told her that as a result of her behavior at church she had to spend the day in her room. She spent most of it banging on the wall. We still had to go grocery shopping so it was decided that I would go to the store. That set DD off because she wanted to go. Jimmy told me to go ahead and go and that he would handle this outburst. So I pulled out of the driveway to a child screaming at her father. What fun! After walking around Wal-Mart for a while I finally got groceries and a Hershey's bar at the check out line. Not on the diet, but I needed it.

I can't think of what would have triggered this meltdown unless it was just over stimulation from Thanksgiving, getting the tree out on Friday and shopping on Saturday.

To end this post on a positive note-DD had a great day at school today! One down and four more to go!

Sorry for the tough day on Sunday. We've had a lot of struggles at church as well. Currently my husband and I have to take turns - one week he goes with Rhema to Children's Church (we're still just trying to get her to stay in the room!) while I stay in the service. The next week, we switch.

Wish I had something more encouraging to stay. It very well could have been the change in routine... glad to hear that she did well in school. I hope this coming Sunday is much better!
